Helping Communities

Helping  people and organisations in the local community is a fundamental part of Rotary; about 75% of the funds we raise is spent within the Felixstowe area.

We not only provide funds but also the help needed to get things done for young and old alike.

Helping Communities

We provide dictionaries for all pupils at the Felixstowe primary schools usually in Year 4. We organise Youth Speaks an event where pupils from all schools in Felixstowe are invited to make  presentations they have created.

We also organise  Young Designer for children at the Felixstowe Academy  and award prizes for stimulating designs. Members also help with the mentoring of students, providing advice and job interview practice. We will be starting a project called Young Photographer a competition run across the East of England.

Local Support

Party on the Prom

On August bank holiday we host a party on the Prom, in the FOPWA hut, for local elderly and disabled people where refreshments are served by members and musical entertainment is provided.

A community facility in Felixstowe called the ‘Laydens Project’ has been helped by the club with both hands-on and advisory support.

Know your own blood pressure is an event that we run in conjunction with the Health Service and the Stroke Association to measure the blood pressure of people in Felixstowe.

International and Charity Collection

As members of Rotary International our club has participated in the global campaign to eradicate Polio in the world. At club level we have helped build facilities for a flying doctor service in Zulu-Natal.

Supporting Charities

We make collections on behalf of Marie Curie and Save the Children at local level. You may see us at Morrison’s or touring the streets at Christmas time with Santa.

Raising Funds

To enable us to give help where and when it is needed—be it local, national or International we raise funds by organising events such a Camel Racing, Music nights with Oompah , Jazz and Swing bands. We have also organised lectures on the Vulcan Aircraft and Felixstowe on Film.
